Cooling system on high-mileage 740s: the original rubber hoses on a 30-year-old 740 are past their service life regardless of condition — rubber gets hard and brittle from the inside before showing cracks on the outside. If your 740 hasn't had a full hose and thermostat replacement, do it before you get stranded on I-80 with a blown lower radiator hose.
