What Does a Lift or Leveling Kit Installation Actually Involve?
Leveling kits and lift kits are different things that get grouped together. Knowing which one fits your goal makes the job straightforward.
Leveling kit — raises the front of the truck to match the rear, correcting the factory nose-down rake. Most use a strut spacer or extended strut topper. Minimal impact on ride quality. Installation takes 2–3 hours. Always requires an alignment after.
Suspension lift kit — raises the entire vehicle by replacing or modifying springs, shocks, and sometimes upper control arms. Adds ground clearance and allows larger tire fitment. More involved installation — 4–8 hours depending on kit complexity. Requires alignment after.
