Why Toyota Supra Drivers Choose Scott's Auto
A Supra isn't an ordinary car, and its owner deserves a shop that treats it with respect. At Scott's, the same mechanic handles your Supra from the road test through the finished repair — no service-advisor handoff, no rushed work. We've done clutch, brake, and cooling work on performance cars for decades, and you'll always get a written estimate first.
Performance Car Experience Since 1990
We've worked on sports and performance cars from our South Salt Lake shop for over three decades. A Supra's mechanical systems — clutch, brakes, cooling, suspension — are right in our wheelhouse.
Clutch Work Done Carefully
Clutch replacement is a core service for us. On a manual Supra we use quality parts and the correct break-in procedure so the job lasts and the car drives the way it should.
One Mechanic, Full Accountability
No service-advisor layer. The mechanic who diagnoses your Supra is the one who repairs it — straight answers and one person responsible for the work.
Free Diagnosis on Every Supra
We road test, scan for codes, and inspect your Supra before recommending anything. You'll know the problem and the price before we begin — no diagnostic fee.
When to Bring Your Toyota Supra In
When a Supra comes into our South Salt Lake shop, we road test it, scan for stored codes if the light is on, and inspect the clutch, brakes, cooling, and suspension thoroughly — a performance car earns a careful look. The issues below are what we see most on Supras across the generations, and the diagnosis is always free.
Clutch Wear on Manual Supras
A manual Supra makes good power, and that puts real load through the clutch — especially on cars driven hard. Slipping under acceleration, a high or grabby engagement point, or a burning smell all mean the clutch is due. We carry quality clutch kits and handle the job with the care a Supra deserves.
Learn more →Cooling System and Water Pump Service
A Supra's engine produces serious heat, and the cooling system has to keep up — especially at Salt Lake's altitude and in summer heat. An aging water pump, tired hoses, or a weak radiator can lead to an overheat that does expensive damage. We pressure-test the system and replace what's failing before that happens.
Learn more →Brake Wear and Fade From Performance Driving
A Supra's brakes work hard, and canyon driving heats them harder still. Worn pads can fade on a long descent, and rotors warp from heat cycling. A pulsing pedal, squealing, or reduced bite all call for a brake job. We measure everything and recommend pads suited to how you drive.
Learn more →Worn Suspension and Vague Handling
A Supra is meant to feel precise, and tired struts and shocks rob it of that. Hard driving and rough Utah roads wear the dampers over time. If your Supra feels floaty, bounces over bumps, or wanders, the suspension needs attention — we replace dampers in pairs with quality parts.
Learn more →Exhaust Leaks on Stock and Modified Cars
Many Supras run aftermarket exhausts, and leaks at joints, gaskets, or flex sections are common — and on classic cars Utah road salt corrodes the stock system too. A louder note or a droning rattle means it's time for a look. We pinpoint the leak and repair only what needs it.
Learn more →Check Engine Light — Sensor and Emissions Codes
On both classic and modern Supras, aging oxygen sensors and emissions components can trip the check engine light. For a car that must pass Utah emissions testing, that's a real concern. We scan for the codes, confirm the cause, and repair what actually needs fixing.

Scott's Auto & Clutch Repair has been independently owned and operating at the same South Salt Lake location since 1990. We're not a dealership and not a chain — the mechanic who diagnoses your Supra is the one who repairs it. For a car as special as a Supra, that direct accountability matters, and so does an honest estimate before any work starts.
We've handled clutch, brake, cooling, and suspension work on performance cars for over three decades. Whether you own a classic inline-six Supra or a modern A90, we'll give you a careful assessment of the mechanical work it needs and a clear written estimate before we begin.

Utah's temperature swings, mountain roads, and high altitude put unique demands on your vehicle. Here's what we've learned from years of servicing Toyota Supras in the Salt Lake Valley.
A Supra's engine makes a lot of heat, and Salt Lake's altitude and summer temperatures push the cooling system hard. Keep the coolant fresh and correctly mixed, and have the water pump, radiator, and hoses inspected regularly — an overheat is the most expensive failure on a performance engine and the most preventable.
If you run your Supra through the Wasatch canyons, use engine braking on long descents instead of riding the brakes, and consider a pad compound rated for the heat. Keeping the brakes cool prevents fade and protects the rotors from warping.
Classic Supras stored through Utah winters do best kept off road salt. If the car must be driven in winter, rinse the underbody afterward and have the brake lines and exhaust checked for corrosion — salt is the biggest enemy of an older car's underside.

5-Star Reviews
What Our Customers Say
Real reviews from Google — 5 stars across the board
“Very helpful, best price.”
“Scott has always preferred good work on my vehicles. I had his shop replace the driveline on my 2014 VW Touareg — not an easy job. The cost was cheaper than another shop. They did a great job. I had them rebuild the alternator because it was too cold for me to do it. The cost was better than I thought. I am very pleased with their work. Scott has always given me good solid advice.”
“Scott is the best! Finishes the job quickly, prices are competitive, and he has great customer service. I've had nothing but good experiences here. Thanks for the rebuilt engine and install. I will be back for future needs!”
“I'm never using a different auto-mechanic again!”
