Dex-Cool coolant service: GM's Dex-Cool extended-life coolant turns acidic when contaminated with air from low coolant levels, accelerating the intake manifold gasket failure. Maintain proper coolant level and change the coolant every 5 years regardless of mileage. Do not mix orange Dex-Cool with green conventional coolant — it creates a corrosive mixture.
SSEi supercharger fluid: the 3800 Series II supercharger has an internal oil reservoir that requires periodic fluid changes — a maintenance item specific to the SSEi that many owners never know about. Old supercharger fluid leads to internal bearing wear. We check it at every service visit on supercharged Bonnevilles.
