If you're buying a 3000GT and the seller can't produce timing belt records within the last 60,000 miles, walk away or budget for the service immediately. It is the most important preventive maintenance item on this vehicle.
Turbo oil — quality matters on VR-4: the twin turbos in the VR-4 depend on clean, quality oil. Extending oil change intervals beyond 5,000 miles on a turbocharged 3000GT is false economy. A failed turbo bearing on a VR-4 is a very expensive repair. Change the oil on time, every time.
Utah temperatures and rubber components: the Wasatch Front's temperature range — from sub-zero winter lows to 100°F summers — ages rubber components faster than milder climates. Vacuum hoses, coolant hoses, and CV boots on a 3000GT should be inspected every few years. A small hose failure can cascade into a much bigger problem on a complex drivetrain.
