UX brake fluid service interval: Lexus recommends brake fluid inspection every 30,000 miles, but if you're doing regular canyon driving in Utah — where brake temperatures run higher than flat-road commuting — we suggest testing the fluid's moisture content every 2 years. Moisture-laden fluid has a lower boiling point, and that translates directly to brake fade on long descents.
UV and rubber degradation in Utah: the high-altitude UV in the Salt Lake Valley ages rubber components — CV boots, suspension bushings, exhaust gaskets, and brake hoses — faster than in lower-elevation or cloudier climates. If your UX is 5 or more years old, ask us to check the rubber components at your next service. A cracked CV boot caught early is a minor repair; the failed joint it causes is not.
UX 250h 12V battery: the UX 250h hybrid carries a small 12-volt auxiliary battery separate from its high-voltage hybrid pack. This battery powers the vehicle's computers, sensors, and push-button start. It typically lasts 4–5 years and is often overlooked. Cold Utah winters shorten its life further. If your UX 250h is slow to start or shows unexplained warning messages, have the 12V battery tested before assuming a larger problem.
