The Nu-series engine's consumption issue is real, and running significantly low in Utah's summer heat (where oil breaks down faster) puts extra stress on internal components. Keep a quart in the trunk as a precaution.
Soul owners who primarily drive in Salt Lake City stop-and-go traffic should have their brakes inspected every 20,000–25,000 miles rather than waiting for the service light or a squeal.
