Why Hyundai Veloster Drivers Choose Scott's Auto
Veloster owners tend to drive their cars hard — and we respect that. The platform is built for it, especially in N form. What that means for service is that clutches, brake pads, and exhaust components wear faster than they do on a commuter sedan. We know the Veloster's service profile and stock the parts that enthusiast-driven Velosters actually go through.
Clutch Specialists for Manual Velosters
Manual Veloster Turbos and Veloster N models are clutch jobs we do regularly. We stock quality OEM-spec clutch kits for first and second-gen Velosters, inspect the flywheel and hydraulics, and road test after installation to confirm proper engagement.
Turbo Engine Experience
Both the 1.6T and the Veloster N's 2.0T engine need clean oil and correct service intervals to protect the turbocharger bearings. We use the right oil weight, track your intervals, and inspect the boost system for leaks at every service.
Suspension Tuned for Performance, Maintained for Longevity
The Veloster N's sport suspension is excellent when in good condition — and noticeably degraded when struts are worn. We inspect and replace struts, mounts, and bushings on Veloster platforms and know the difference between normal sport-tuning firmness and worn-out hardware.
No Diagnostic Fee
We road test your Veloster, pull codes, and inspect what the symptoms point to before recommending anything. Written estimate, no surprises, no diagnostic charge.
When to Bring Your Hyundai Veloster In
We've worked on Velosters from base automatics to track-prepped N models at our South Salt Lake shop. The issues below are what we see most consistently — if your Veloster is showing any of these symptoms, bring it in and we'll diagnose it for free.
Clutch Slipping or Burning Smell — Manual Veloster
A slipping clutch on a Veloster Turbo or Veloster N is common when the car gets driven the way it was designed to be driven. The clutch disc wears, engagement moves higher on the pedal travel, and eventually the clutch can't transfer torque cleanly under hard acceleration. A burning smell confirms the slip. We replace the full clutch kit — disc, pressure plate, throw-out bearing — and resurface or replace the flywheel.
Learn more →Check Engine Light — Boost or O2 Sensor Codes
The Veloster Turbo can trigger boost-related check engine codes from worn boost solenoids, cracked silicone charge pipes, or a sluggish wastegate. Second-gen models can also see upstream O2 sensor failures as mileage builds. We read the codes, inspect the physical system, and fix the root cause.
Learn more →Grinding Brakes — Rear Pad Wear
Veloster rear brakes can wear faster than the fronts on cars that see a lot of canyon driving or track use. If the fronts look fine but you hear grinding from the rear, the rear pads are the likely culprit. We measure front and rear pad thickness separately and service them based on actual wear, not a blanket interval.
Learn more →Loud Exhaust — Gasket or Midpipe Leak
The Veloster's exhaust system, particularly on Turbo models, can develop leaks at the manifold-to-turbo flange or in the midpipe as the car ages. A ticking or hissing exhaust note that gets louder under load is the typical sign. We inspect the full exhaust path, from manifold to tip, and repair leaks properly.
Learn more →Bouncy or Clunking Suspension
The Veloster N's sport suspension is tuned for sharp responses — which means worn struts stand out immediately. A floaty, bouncy feel or a clunk from the front strut tower on hard bumps typically points to worn upper mounts or strut bearings. We inspect and replace the affected components.

How We Work With Hyundai Veloster Drivers
Tell Us What Your Veloster Is Doing
Describe the symptom — when it happens, what it sounds like, whether it's getting worse. Performance car symptoms often tell a clear story if you give us the details.
Free Diagnostic Inspection
We road test your Veloster, pull codes, check boost system integrity, inspect clutch and drivetrain, and review the full mechanical picture.
Written Estimate — You Decide What Gets Done
We explain what we found in plain language and give you a written estimate. Nothing starts until you approve it. If something can safely wait, we'll say so.
Quality Parts for a Performance Platform
We use OEM-spec or quality aftermarket parts on Veloster repairs — not the cheapest option available. A clutch in a Veloster N needs to handle more torque than a base model; we spec the job accordingly.
Road Test and Walkthrough at Pickup
We verify every repair on the road before calling you. At pickup we walk through what was done and what to keep an eye on.

Utah's temperature swings, mountain roads, and high altitude put unique demands on your vehicle. Here's what we've learned from years of servicing Hyundai Velosters in the Salt Lake Valley.
Veloster N oil changes: the 2.0T in the Veloster N operates at higher temperatures and higher boost than the standard Veloster Turbo. Use a full-synthetic oil of the weight specified in your owner's manual and change it every 5,000–6,000 miles. Extended intervals on a turbocharged performance engine accelerate bearing wear — it's not worth the savings.
Clutch break-in on the Veloster Turbo and N: after a new clutch is installed, the first 500 miles matter. Avoid hard launches and high-slip situations while the clutch disc seats against the flywheel. Proper break-in significantly extends the life of the new clutch — ask us about the specific procedure when you pick up the car.
Utah canyon driving and brake fade: if you're running Millcreek, Big Cottonwood, or Little Cottonwood roads in a Veloster regularly, your brake fluid works harder than a daily commuter's. Old fluid with high moisture content can boil under sustained canyon braking, causing a soft pedal. Flush the brake fluid every two years if you use your Veloster for spirited driving.

5-Star Reviews
What Our Customers Say
Real reviews from Google — 5 stars across the board
“This was my second time using Scott's. The power steering went out in my truck. Scott got it in that day and had it fixed in a couple of hours. I couldn't recommend this shop more!”
“Scott has always preferred good work on my vehicles. I had his shop replace the driveline on my 2014 VW Touareg — not an easy job. The cost was cheaper than another shop. They did a great job. I had them rebuild the alternator because it was too cold for me to do it. The cost was better than I thought. I am very pleased with their work. Scott has always given me good solid advice.”
“I have taken my vehicles to many other mechanics before I found this place. They are absolutely the best — they won't give you the run around, they won't expect you to go find a bolt they broke (yes, that happened to me once), they will give you peace of mind. I cannot stress enough how much better Scott's Auto & Clutch Repair is than the competition. Even if you like your mechanic now, give them a try and let them wow you.”
“I worked for Scott many years ago and he has always been a very magnanimous and honest person. He only lets honest mechanics work in his shop. He makes sure that good, quality work is performed. He was great to work with and great to work for. One hell of a guy, running an honest shop with good rates.”
