First-gen CRX carburetors should be inspected and cleaned every two to three years if the car is driven regularly. Ethanol-blended Utah fuel (E10) is harder on old carb components — rubber float valves and bowl gaskets degrade faster than they did on the pre-ethanol blends these carbs were designed for.
Store your CRX with fresh brake fluid — Utah's dry climate masks moisture absorption in the brake system. Brake fluid absorbs moisture through the rubber lines over time regardless of climate, and an old CRX with original brake hoses can have compromised hydraulics even if it looks dry and clean.
