Fiat 500X Repair in South Salt Lake, UT
The Fiat 500X brought the 500's retro styling to a crossover body on a platform shared with the Jeep Renegade. It's a capable small SUV with a somewhat complex powertrain — turbocharged four-cylinders, optional AWD, and a dual-clutch transmission that has specific fluid and service requirements. At our South Salt Lake shop, we know this platform and service it properly.
Full-Service Fiat 500X Repair — All Generations
We service all Fiat 500X model years at our South Salt Lake shop — all trim levels, engine configurations, and drivetrain variants from 2016 through 2020. Every visit starts with a free diagnosis so you know exactly what your 500X needs before we touch it.

Why Fiat 500X Drivers Choose Scott's Auto
The 500X crossover sits on a more complex platform than the standard 500 — AWD variants, dual-clutch transmissions, and the MultiAir turbo engine require specific service knowledge and correct fluids. We approach the 500X as the Euro-derived platform it is, which means using the right materials and service intervals for the hardware actually installed in your car.
AWD and Drivetrain Service Knowledge
AWD 500X models have a rear differential and transfer clutch that need proper fluid maintenance. We service the full drivetrain system — not just the front wheels.
Dual-Clutch Transmission Fluid Service
The DCT in the 500X has specific fluid requirements and service intervals that are often missed at quick-lube shops. Using the wrong fluid or skipping service accelerates wear. We use the correct fluid and service the transmission properly.
Free Diagnosis Every Visit
We road test, pull codes, and inspect your 500X before recommending any repair. No diagnostic fee, plain-language findings.
Only What Your Car Actually Needs
We don't upsell. If something can wait, we tell you and help you plan. You get a written estimate before anything starts.
When to Bring Your Fiat 500X In
The 500X is a modern crossover, but that doesn't mean it's maintenance-free. The dual-clutch transmission is particularly sensitive to fluid condition, and the turbocharged engine has specific oil and service needs. Utah's elevation means slightly lower boost pressure, and the temperature extremes stress rubber components and cooling systems. If your 500X is showing any of these symptoms, bring it in for a free diagnosis.
Harsh Shifting or Hesitation from DCT
The dual-clutch transmission in many 500X models can develop shuddering, harsh engagement, or hesitation — especially when cold — as fluid degrades or the clutch pack wears. We inspect the transmission, check fluid condition, and service or repair what's needed. Skipping DCT fluid service is the leading cause of early failure on these transmissions.
Learn more →CV Axle Clicking on Turns
Front and rear CV axles on AWD 500X models wear over time, particularly on the front outer joints. Clicking during low-speed turns is the first sign. We replace the complete axle shaft for a proper, durable repair.
Learn more →Check Engine Light — Turbo and Emissions Codes
The 1.4T and 1.3T turbocharged engines in the 500X generate a variety of check engine codes — boost control faults, oxygen sensor codes, and catalytic converter efficiency codes as mileage climbs. We read the codes, trace the actual cause, and fix what needs fixing.
Learn more →Bouncy Ride or Poor Handling
The 500X is a taller crossover and depends more heavily on its struts than the low-slung 500. Worn struts cause the car to feel top-heavy, bounce excessively on rough pavement, and wander on the freeway. We inspect and replace struts when they're no longer doing their job.
Learn more →Squealing or Grinding Brakes
Brake pads on the 500X wear more quickly than the standard 500 due to the added weight. Squealing is the wear indicator — grinding means pad material is gone and the rotor is being damaged. Get brake noise addressed promptly.

Scott's Auto & Clutch Repair has been independently owned and operating at the same South Salt Lake location since 1990. The 500X is a modern crossover with a more complex drivetrain than many owners realize — AWD systems, dual-clutch transmissions, and turbocharged engines all have specific service requirements. We know this platform and service it correctly.
Whether your 500X needs a DCT fluid service, a CV axle, a brake job, or a diagnosis of a persistent check engine light, you'll get a plain-language explanation and a written estimate before we start. No surprises, no guesswork.

Utah's temperature swings, mountain roads, and high altitude put unique demands on your vehicle. Here's what we've learned from years of servicing Fiat 500Xs in the Salt Lake Valley.
DCT fluid service is not optional: the dual-clutch transmission in many 500X models requires periodic fluid changes that are not always listed prominently in owner's manuals. Skipping this service leads to shuddering, harsh shifts, and eventually transmission failure. If you've owned your 500X past 40,000–50,000 miles and have never had the DCT fluid serviced, bring it in. It's an inexpensive service relative to transmission repairs.
AWD rear differential fluid: the rear differential on AWD 500X models uses a specialized fluid that degrades over time and use. Utah's mountain driving — canyons, ski resorts, off-pavement terrain — puts additional stress on the rear AWD system. We recommend checking the rear differential fluid condition as part of any major service on AWD-equipped 500X models.
Turbocharger oil supply on the 1.4T and 1.3T: turbocharged Fiat engines depend on clean, properly-viscosity engine oil to lubricate the turbo bearings. Extended oil change intervals or low oil level will cause premature turbo wear. Check your oil level monthly if you're driving a 500X turbo, and don't skip oil changes. In Utah's summer heat, the thermal stress on turbocharged engines is higher than in cooler climates.

What Our Customers Say
Real reviews from Google — 5 stars across the board
“Great service and great prices!”
“Scott put a new clutch in my Jeep, got it done the same day for a really good price and got us back on the road. I would recommend him to anyone who asked!”
“Really great — brought me back to help me understand my truck better. I won a giveaway on his Instagram. He is awesome!”
“Scott has always preferred good work on my vehicles. I had his shop replace the driveline on my 2014 VW Touareg — not an easy job. The cost was cheaper than another shop. They did a great job. I had them rebuild the alternator because it was too cold for me to do it. The cost was better than I thought. I am very pleased with their work. Scott has always given me good solid advice.”
