Cadillac ATS Repair in South Salt Lake, UT
The Cadillac ATS was GM's compact rear-wheel-drive sport sedan built on the same Alpha platform as the later CTS. Available with turbocharged four-cylinders, a 3.6L V6, and a supercharged ATS-V, it's an engaging car that rewards proper maintenance. We service all ATS generations and variants at our South Salt Lake shop.

We service all Cadillac ATS models at our South Salt Lake shop — sedan, coupe, standard, ATS-V, RWD, and AWD across every engine and model year. Every visit starts with a free diagnosis so you know exactly what your ATS needs before we start.

Why Cadillac ATS Drivers Choose Scott's Auto
The ATS is lighter and more driver-focused than most Cadillac products, and it shows in how its components wear. The 2.0T turbo engine has known high-pressure fuel pump and timing chain issues, the ATS-V's clutch sees real use, and the compact chassis transfers road imperfections directly to the suspension components. We know these cars and can diagnose them accurately — without sending you on a wild goose chase through a dealer's service department.
Alpha Platform Expertise
The ATS shares its Alpha platform with the CTS — we work on both regularly. That means we know the chassis, the common wear patterns, and the repairs that make a lasting difference.
2.0T Turbo Engine Familiarity
The LTG 2.0T engine in most ATS models has specific failure points — high-pressure fuel pump, timing chain, and carbon buildup on the intake valves. We diagnose these accurately and fix the root cause.
ATS-V Clutch and Drivetrain Service
The ATS-V's twin-turbocharged LF4 V6 with its Tremec TR6070 manual transmission is a demanding drivetrain. We handle ATS-V clutch replacement with quality kits and the correct flywheel inspection procedure.
Free Diagnosis on Every ATS
We road test, pull codes, and inspect your ATS before making any recommendations. Written estimate before work begins — no diagnostic fee.
When to Bring Your Cadillac ATS In
The ATS is a compact sport sedan that lives in the driver's hands — and that use shows in the wear patterns we see. Timing chain and fuel system issues on the 2.0T, clutch wear on manual V-series cars, and suspension components that take the brunt of Utah's frost-heaved roads are the most common repairs we handle. If any of the symptoms below sound familiar, bring your ATS in for a free look.
Check Engine Light — Timing or Fuel System Codes
The 2.0T LTG engine in the ATS can trigger codes related to the high-pressure fuel pump, timing chain stretch, or cam phaser operation. P0011, P0014, and fuel trim codes are common on higher-mileage examples. We pull the codes, verify the root cause, and explain what needs to happen before recommending a repair.
Learn more →ATS-V Clutch Slip Under Hard Acceleration
The ATS-V's twin-turbo LF4 makes real power, and the clutch takes the brunt of it under aggressive driving. A clutch that slips under hard acceleration, feels grabby, or has a noticeably high engagement point is telling you it's time. We carry quality clutch kits for the ATS-V and handle the job correctly.
Learn more →Grinding or Squealing Brakes
ATS brake rotors and pads are sized for sport performance — they're excellent when fresh but don't last as long as economy-car brakes under hard use. If you're hearing metal-on-metal grinding or a persistent squeal that doesn't clear after a few stops, the pads are due. We inspect the full system and replace what's actually worn.
Learn more →Suspension Noise or Harsh Ride
The Alpha platform's tight suspension geometry delivers great handling but transmits road imperfections more directly than a softer luxury sedan. Worn front struts, control arm bushings, and rear lateral links are the most common culprits when the ride deteriorates or you hear clunking on rough surfaces. We diagnose the specific failed components rather than replacing everything at once.
Learn more →Clicking on Turns — CV Axle
The ATS uses CV axles on both RWD and AWD models. A rhythmic clicking that's most noticeable during low-speed turns — parking lots, U-turns — is the sign of a worn CV joint. We replace the complete axle shaft rather than patching the boot, which gives you a more durable long-term repair.
Learn more →Who to Trust for Cadillac ATS Repair in South Salt Lake
Scott's Auto & Clutch Repair is an independent shop that has operated at the same South Salt Lake location since 1990. We don't route your car through a service advisor before a technician sees it — the mechanic who inspects your ATS is the one who fixes it. That's the whole model.
We work on ATS sedans and coupes across both generations — 2.0T daily drivers with timing chain questions, ATS-V coupes needing clutch service, and AWD models with CV axle wear. Whatever your ATS needs, you'll get an honest answer and a written estimate before we start.

Utah's temperature swings, mountain roads, and high altitude put unique demands on your vehicle. Here's what we've learned from years of servicing Cadillac ATSs in the Salt Lake Valley.
2.0T LTG carbon buildup: direct-injection engines like the LTG don't have fuel washing over the intake valves, which means carbon deposits accumulate on the valve stems over time. By 60,000–80,000 miles this can cause rough idle, hesitation, and a slight power loss. The fix is an intake valve cleaning — we use walnut blasting to remove deposits without disassembly of the head.
Utah winter oil changes on the 2.0T: turbocharged engines run hotter and cycle oil more aggressively than naturally aspirated engines. In Utah's cold winters the turbo also sees more thermal stress on cold starts. Use a quality full-synthetic 0W-30 or 5W-30 and don't go beyond 5,000 miles on high-mileage 2.0T ATS models — the timing chain rewards clean oil.
ATS suspension and Utah frost heaves: the Alpha platform's tight suspension bushings absorb road imperfections well when new but transmit them harshly when worn. Salt Lake's winter frost heaves and spring road damage accelerate bushing wear. If your ATS's ride has gotten noticeably harsher over a Utah winter, have the front strut mounts and control arm bushings inspected — they're often the culprit before the struts themselves fail.

“Scott's a great guy. Always there when the chips are down.”
“Scott has always preferred good work on my vehicles. I had his shop replace the driveline on my 2014 VW Touareg — not an easy job. The cost was cheaper than another shop. They did a great job. I had them rebuild the alternator because it was too cold for me to do it. The cost was better than I thought. I am very pleased with their work. Scott has always given me good solid advice.”
