Ford Bronco Repair in Salt Lake City, UT
The Ford Bronco was built to leave pavement behind, and around here plenty of owners take that seriously — Wasatch trails, sand at the dunes, and snow-packed canyon roads all add up. At our South Salt Lake shop we service both the classic full-size Broncos and the new sixth-generation models, and we know what hard use does to a Bronco's drivetrain and suspension.
Full-Service Ford Bronco Repair — All Generations
We service all Ford Bronco generations at our South Salt Lake shop — from vintage 4x4s to the modern EcoBoost models. Every visit starts with a free diagnosis so you know exactly what your Bronco needs before we touch it.

Why Ford Bronco Drivers Choose Scott's Auto
Bronco owners who actually use their trucks need a shop that understands off-road wear, not just a quick oil change. At Scott's, the same mechanic who diagnoses your Bronco performs the repair — no service-advisor middleman marking up the ticket. You get a straight answer about what trail use has done to your suspension and driveline, and a written estimate before anything starts.
We Understand Off-Road Wear
Trail and sand driving punishes CV joints, U-joints, ball joints, and shocks far faster than highway miles. We inspect the whole underside of your Bronco, not just the symptom you came in for.
7-Speed Manual Clutch Service
The 2.3L Bronco's 7-speed manual with its crawler gear is a clutch we service routinely. We use quality OEM-spec kits and follow the correct break-in so your new clutch lasts.
EcoBoost Turbo Experience
The 2.3L and 2.7L EcoBoost engines need clean oil and a healthy cooling system to stay reliable. We know what to check and we catch small problems before they become expensive ones.
Free Diagnosis on Every Bronco
We road test, scan for codes, and inspect your Bronco before we recommend anything. You know what's wrong and what it costs before we lift a wrench. No diagnostic fee.
When to Bring Your Ford Bronco In
We've serviced Broncos of every era at our South Salt Lake shop — vintage V8 4x4s and current EcoBoost models alike. When a Bronco comes in, we road test it, scan for stored codes if a light is on, and do a full underside inspection because off-road use hides damage in places highway-only trucks never show. The issues below are the ones we see most on Broncos. Bring yours in and we'll tell you exactly what's going on, no charge for the diagnosis.
Clutch Wear on the 2.3L 7-Speed Manual
The modern Bronco's 7-speed manual is a great trail gearbox, but low-speed crawling and frequent stop-and-go on steep grades wear clutches faster than highway driving. Signs include a high engagement point, slipping under load on a climb, or a burning smell after a tough section of trail. We replace Bronco clutches with quality OEM-spec kits and check the hydraulic system while we're in there.
Learn more →CV Joint and U-Joint Failure from Trail Use
Articulating suspension over rocks and ruts works the front axle joints hard. A worn CV joint clicks when you turn, and a failing U-joint clunks on acceleration or makes a vibration that builds with speed. Sand and grit accelerate the damage once a boot tears. We replace the complete axle or U-joint rather than patching a torn boot.
Learn more →Worn Shocks and Bouncy Ride
Bronco shocks take a beating off-road, and Utah's washboard dirt roads finish them off. If your Bronco floats over dips, bounces after a bump, or nose-dives hard when you brake, the shocks are worn out. Worn dampers also chew through tires unevenly. We replace shocks in axle-pair sets so the truck handles predictably again.
Learn more →Cooling System Strain on EcoBoost Engines
Turbocharged engines run hot, and crawling slowly in low gear on a summer trail gives the cooling system almost no airflow to work with. A weak water pump, tired thermostat, or low coolant turns into an overheating engine fast. We pressure-test the cooling system and check the water pump before a trip leaves you stranded in the heat.
Learn more →Brake Wear from Steep Descents
Coming down a canyon or a long grade loaded with gear cooks brakes. Bronco owners often notice squealing, a soft pedal, or a shudder when stopping. Heat-glazed pads and warped rotors are common. We inspect pads, rotors, and brake fluid condition and tell you honestly how much life is left.
Learn more →Check Engine Light on EcoBoost and Older V8s
Modern Broncos may set codes for misfires, turbo boost faults, or evaporative system issues. Classic Broncos with carbureted or early fuel-injected V8s commonly trip codes from worn sensors and vacuum leaks. We scan for codes, verify the actual cause, and fix what's really wrong instead of just clearing the light.

Scott's Auto & Clutch Repair has been independently owned at the same South Salt Lake location since 1990. We're not a dealership and we don't run a service-advisor layer — the mechanic who diagnoses your Bronco is the one who repairs it. For a truck you depend on to get you out of the backcountry, that accountability matters.
We've worked on Broncos across the decades — carbureted classics, fuel-injected V8 models, and the current EcoBoost generation with its 7-speed manual. Whether your Bronco needs a clutch, CV joints, shocks, brake work, or an honest look after a hard season on the trails, you'll get a straight assessment and a written estimate before we start.

Utah's temperature swings, mountain roads, and high altitude put unique demands on your vehicle. Here's what we've learned from years of servicing Ford Broncos in the Salt Lake Valley.
After a season of trail or sand driving, have the front axle joints, U-joints, and shocks inspected. Grit works past torn boots and seals, and the damage isn't visible from the driver's seat — catching a failing joint early is far cheaper than replacing an axle that came apart on the highway.
On EcoBoost Broncos, watch coolant level and stick to OEM-spec coolant. Low-speed summer crawling gives the radiator almost no airflow, so a marginal cooling system that survives highway driving can overheat on a hot trail. Have the cooling system pressure-tested before a big trip.
If you crawl steep grades or do a lot of low-gear work, expect the clutch on a 2.3L manual to wear faster than a highway-only truck. Don't ride the clutch on long climbs — use the gearing. A burning smell after a tough section means it's time to have the clutch checked.
